I would recommend parents in particular have at least a cursory explore of Craig Barton’s website “Mr Barton Maths”.

He is a highly respected practising teacher who offers the unusual blend of self-deprecation and deep insight into the theory of effective teaching, called “pedagogy”.

I won’t bore you with my own rambling thoughts on this topic. Suffice it to say that this podcast from Mr Barton’s site yet again reinforces the value of a close familial support.
